The Soul Sphere is the second final boss in Tekken 5′s Devil Within. It also serves as the fourth boss in Stage 4 of the Ruins.

Appearance

The Soul Sphere is an orb of light, having a mix of purple, blue, and white on it. Its core is pure white, while its energy around it consists of a mix of lighter shades of purple and blue. But once it acts up, it violently bursts into a ball of electricity, consisting of purple.

Battle

Before the battle starts, the Soul Sphere stays in one place. Once it detects Jin Kazama, it violently bursts into a ball of electricity.

In battle, the first thing the Soul Sphere does is to hover around and then bump into Jin. If the player dodges the Soul Sphere or gets hit by it, the sphere will summon warriors that were once the Tekken Force. After defeating the warriors, the sphere will attempt to bump into Jin again. While it misses or succeeds, the Soul Sphere will open up one of the barriers of its generators. These generators are almost similar to one oft he door generators in Stage 4 and 5, but having a smooth gray brick texture, purple outlines, and a blue aura underneath. If the Soul Sphere affects one of the generators, it'll summon balls of energy that look similar to the sphere itself. The player must destroy this generator, or else they will have to repeat the first phase. Once the generator has been destroyed, the platform it stands on will fade away, and then the player will engage the second phase.

The Soul Sphere will once again attempt to attack Jin. After that process, it will summon another group of warriors that were once the Tekken Force, this time with infected Jack-5s. Defeating them will repeat the first phase: dodging the Soul Sphere and destroying another generator.

The third and final phase will differ than the previous ones. This time, the Soul Sphere no longer summons warriors. Instead, it will mess around with the player with a large generator: a vicious appearance with smooth gray bricks, magenta outlines, and a red glow underneath. This generator has more strength other than the rest of its small and weak counterparts. If the player arrives at the final generator too early, the barrier surrounding it will not open unless the player stands on the main platform on the middle. That's when the barrier to the generator will open up. However, the player must be careful at this part because the barrier will close up very quickly. Destroying it will end the battle and the Soul Sphere will fade away.

Trivia

  • Defeating the Soul Sphere reveals to Jin that the sphere itself was actually the seal of the ruins to trap Ogre.
  • This boss must be dealt with carefully because of the phasing ability that the Soul Sphere wields.
  • The red generator is used differently, compared to the blue ones.
