Front Thrust Kick (右中段前蹴り,Mi Gichi ~Yuudan Maegeri?, Right Middle Front Kick) is a move used by Jin Kazama since Tekken 4.
From Tekken 4 to Tekken 6, the player can input d+1+2 after a successful hit to perform a Mental Alertnesscharge. Since Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Jin can also transition to Zenshin by inputting f.
Description
Jin performs a right snap kick aimed at the opponent's torso.
Usage
This move is arguably Jin's longest range poke, with good Counter Hit properties, so it can be used as a keep-out tool. For example, as the opponent tries to close in for an attack, Front Thrust Kick will most likely Counter Hit the opponent, allowing a juggle for good damage (~60 in DR).
The properties (range, juggle on CH) of this move have been toned down in Tekken 6, so the move saw less use by players. Nevertheless, it still remains a good move to use. Tekken 7 Season 3 saw the counter property changed to push the opponent farther away, requiring a much deeper dash to pick them up for a combo without relying on the Zenshin transition (and if the Zenshin transition is used the Crouch Dash transition must be used whereas previously it was optional). Tekken 8 set the counter effect somewhere in the middle between 6 and Season 3 of 7, which – when combined with the simpler running input – makes the pickup possible without using a Crouch Dash at all.
This move in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 has a unique variant in Omen stance that combines a Left Right Combo with the Front Thrust Kick using the input 1,2,4. This move can be followed up by Zenshin.
This move also hits grounded opponents when their feet is away from Jin, or if they attempt to sideroll on the ground.
