Not to be confused with the move used by Roger, Alex and Roger Jr.

Windmill Punch (ワイルドスイング,Wairudo Suingu?, "Wild Swing") is a move usable by the Jack series of androids (including Prototype Jack) as well as Ganryu, Kuma I since the first game. Kuma II and Panda also used this move from Tekken 3 to Tekken 7.

Description

The user swings their arms around striking downwards three times, followed by a fourth sideways swipe.

In Tekken, the move only consisted of the first three hits. A fourth hit was added from Tekken 2 onwards.

If the first three hits connect, the third hit will cause knockdown. The second attack normally hits high, but if the first attack misses, it hits mid and the third hit will not have the knockdown property. The fourth hit always causes knockdown in Tekken 2 and Tekken 3, and is a guard breaker.

From Tekken Tag Tournament, if the fourth hit connects it will leave the opponent back-turned rather than knocked over, with the exception of Ganryu's whose variation causes an unrecoverable stun at the cost of the move no longer being a guard breaker. If the fourth hit connects from side on or from behind, the regular version will cause knockdown while Ganryu's variation will leave the opponent standing.

When fought as an enemy in the Mishima Saga in Tekken 7, Jack-4 uses an extended set of the first three hits, being able to perform up to 5 hits as opposed to 3.

Haywire Windmill Punches

In Tekken Tag Tournament, Jack-2, Gun Jack, and Prototype Jack will be forced to perform the first three hits if they are struck by Devil or Angel's Inferno and will be forced to continue even if their hp has been depleted. Because they perform this involuntarily, the opponent can abuse this to repeatedly stun the player until their health is depleted.[1] In Tekken 5, this interaction was replaced with the Hellfire Blast Recover.

Trivia

  • There is a typo in the PAL version Tekken PlayStation instruction manual showing the name as Wind Hill Punch.
  • In Street Fighter X Tekken, Windmill Punch serves as the second attack in Jack-X's Cross Art.
